Rivals Camp Series: Los Angeles
Four-star 2016 standout Trevon Sidney took home WR MVP honors at the Rivals Camp Series near Los Angeles.
FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour concluded its regional camp schedule in style on Sunday with a star-studded camp at Fullerton College outside of Los Angeles. With nearly 200 prospects on hand representing nine different states, a diverse field of talent made for a memorable day of performances.
The series of drills and one-on-one competitions revealed the best players, and even though several of the positions were tough calls, seven MVPs were named, with three other players also earning special honors.
The MVP awards went as follows: Class of 2017 four-star Upland, Calif. athlete Nathan Tilford (running back); three-star La Habra, Calif. linebacker Jacob Colacion (linebacker); four-star La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat receiver Trevon Sidney (defensive wide receiver/tight end); four-star Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra safety CJ Pollard (defensive back); three-star Long Beach (Calif.) defensive end Curtis Weaver (defensive line); 2017 four-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman quarterback Tate Martell (quarterback). Additional awards went to four-star Fontana (Calif.) Summit athlete Damian Alloway (top athlete); three-star Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra athlete Khalil Tate (Mr. Versatile); 2018 Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou quarterback Stephen Barber (Young Gun).
With so much talent on hand, there were also seven prospects who were invited to participate in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour, which will be held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore in June.
They were Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West linebacker Caleb Kelly; La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat wide receiver Tyler Vaughns; Long Beach (Calif.) Poly wide receiver Jack Jones; Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro cornerback Byron Murphy; Rialto (Calif.) Wilmer Carter linebacker Lokeni Toailoa; Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin athlete Lamar Jackson; Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive tackle Frank Martin.
The Rivals Camp Series regional stops are now completed, with the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge and the Rivals Quarterback Challenge Finals set for June 5-7 in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.
